all conference attendees are invited to participate in the Musicology & Practice Colloquy. This session will primarily focus on the following questions:

1. What are the primary goals of musicology programs, and how can we design our programs to align with our primary goals?

2. How do we engage and contend with the current AI/tech revolution?

3. What unique challenges/crises are musicology programs currently facing, and what solutions can we offer?

4. How do we continue to effectively communicate the value/importance of musicology to current and future generations of students (and their parents)?

Jorge Rodrigo Sigal Sefchovich ?(Mexico City – 1971) 

Composer, cultural manager and full time professor since 2017 at ENES, UNAM, Morelia, where he co-founded the Music and Artistic Technology undergraduate program (www.enesmorelia.org). Interested in new technologies especially in the electroacoustic music field. Since 2006, Sigal has been the director of the Mexican Centre for Music and Sonic Arts (www.cmmas.org) where he coordinates numerous initiatives of creation, education, research and cultural management in relation to sound and music. In 2024 he received the Bellas Artes Medal in Music from INBAL. He studied at CIEM in Mexico and then earned a doctorate degree from the London City University and completed his postdoctoral studies at UNAM. He has a diploma in cultural management from the UAM-BID and has continued his studies and creative projects with the help from various scholarships and support from institutions like Fulbright, FONCA (SNCA member 2011-18), Pride C (UNAM) and the DeVos Foundation for cultural management, among others. He is  a member of the National Researchers System Level 1 from SECIHTI and for 20 years he has taken part in the Luminico project (www.luminico.org), he is the director of the “Visiones Sonoras” festival (www.visionessonoras.org) and editor of “Sonic Ideas” journal (www.sonicideas.org).

The Allegheny, Capital and Mid-Atlantic chapters of the American Musicological Society are pleased to announce a joint meeting on Friday and Saturday, October 5–6, 2018 at the University of Delaware.

The Program Committee invites proposals for papers, lecture-recitals, and poster presentations. Submissions from faculty, independent scholars, and graduate or undergraduate students of any discipline are welcome. Proposals may be on any subject of musicological interest. Presentations should be limited to 20 minutes to allow 10 minutes for discussion. An abstract of up to 300 words, along with the proposed title, and a list of equipment necessary for the presentation should be submitted before midnight on Monday, August 13, 2018.

In addition to individual proposals, the Program Committee invites abstracts for themed panels or roundtable discussions on any subject of musicological interest. Panels shall last no longer than one hour and fifteen minutes. An abstract of up to 500 words, along with the proposed title, a list of participants and their roles in the session, and a list of the equipment necessary for the presentation should be submitted before midnight on Monday, August 13, 2018.

The Program Committee is also pleased to announce that it is convening a special panel on professional development, with particular focus on the needs and concerns of contingent faculty.

Proposals should represent the presentation as fully as possible. A successful proposal typically articulates the main aspects of the argument or research findings clearly, positions the author’s contribution with respect to previous scholarship, and suggests the paper’s significance for the musicological community, in language that is accessible to scholars with a variety of specializations.

Applicants may submit only one proposal per meeting; figures and examples should not be included with your submission.

Please submit all proposals via email to Alanna Ropchock Tierno at aropchoc@su.edu. Abstracts will be evaluated by a blind peer-review process. The decisions of the Program Committee will be announced by August 31, 2018.

We furthermore invite students to request that their papers be entered for consideration for the West Virginia University Press Award for best Student Paper. The award consists of a $250.00 monetary prize generously provided by the West Virginia University Press, and is awarded each spring by the Allegheny Chapter of the AMS. Papers will be evaluated by the program committee of the Allegheny Chapter. For submission guidelines please see: https://amsallegeny.wordpress.com/wvu-press-award/. Presenters must be members of the American Musicological Society. Each chapter will collect dues separately at the meeting.

An abstract of max. 300 words, along with the proposed title and list of the equipment necessary for your presentation should be submitted by Saturday, February 03, 2018. Presentations in all forms shall last no longer than 25 minutes.

In addition to individual proposals, the Program Committee invites abstracts for plenary sessions on any subject of musicological interest. An abstract of max. 500 words, along with the proposed title, list of the participants and their role in the session, and a list of the equipment necessary for the presentation should be submitted by Saturday, February 24, 2018. Plenary sessions shall last no longer than one hour and fifteen minutes.

Please submit abstracts for both individual proposals and plenary sessions to: med9@uakron.edu.

We furthermore invite students to request that their papers be entered for consideration for the West Virginia University Press Award for best Student Paper. The award consists of a $250.00 monetary prize generously provided by the West Virginia University Press, and is awarded each spring by the Allegheny Chapter of the AMS.
